Governor Mead delivered his first State of the State address today. In it, he focused largely on the economy jobs, technology, the health care suit, challenges to the authority of the federal government and the need to streamline state government. He referred in passing to the need to balance development and our quality of life. You can read it here or you can watch it on the Governor's website: http://governor.wy.gov/Pages/default/aspx.
Some of the bills we looked at yesterday have been introduced and referred to a standing committee:
SF0039 - Aquatic invasive species-reciprocity - Introduced and referred to Senate Travel
SF0048 - Wildlife and natural resources trust account board - Introduced and referred to Senate Appropriations
SF0063 - Game and fish-donation of hunting licenses - Introduced and referred to Senate Travel
SF0080 - Game and fish-complimentary licenses - Introduced and referred to Senate Travel
SF0083 - Game and fish-resident preference points - Introduced and referred to Senate Travel
SJ0001 - Right to hunt, fish, and trap - Introduced and referred to Senate Travel
A few more bills to tell you about, as well:
SF0085 - Game and fish violations-penalties - We've seen this bill before - two years ago. It amends Title 23 to make a second or subsequent conviction of taking antlered big game under Sec. 102 (the "winter range" statute) or wanton destruction of a felony. We should definitely support this bill. It has been introduced and assigned to Senate Travel. http://legisweb.state.wy.us/2011/Introduced/SF0085.pdf
SF0091 - Wildlife/livestock disease research disease partnership-funding - This bill appropriates $200,000 for the partnership account established in Title 11. I'd like to do a bit more research on this account before I recommend a position. http://legisweb.state.wy.us/2011/Introduced/SF0091.pdf
